Xiaomi’s ecological model takes root in India: the first power bank factory has been established

[Global Network Technology, Reporter, Lindy] According to the Indian media "Business Standard", Xiaomi has decided to set up a third smartphone factory in India and has partnered with Hipad Technology in Noida, India to produce power banks, which is also the third cooperative manufacturing partner signed by Xiaomi in India.

Manu Jain, head of Xiaomi India, said that Xiaomi has achieved geometric growth in India and has a leading position in the smartphone market. This time, Xiaomi will set up a local chemical factory to bring the world’s best power bank ecosystem to India. Hipad Technology has the ability to produce seven power banks per minute. Hipad Technology mainly produces Xiaomi Power Bank 2i products with 10000mAh and 20000mAh specifications, priced at 799 rupees (1 rupee is about 10.23 yuan) and 1,499 rupees respectively.

"One of the key reasons we have seen phenomenal growth in a short period of time is our commitment to India. We want to provide the best quality technology at a reasonable price and local manufacturing can help us do that," says Manu Jain.

Xiaomi entered the Indian market in 2014 and now has two smartphone factories in Andhra Bangsri, where 95 per cent of Xiaomi phones sold are assembled locally, according to the data. "We will also expand capacity or build new factories if there is demand," said Manu Jain.

Xiaomi shipped 9.20 million phones in India in the third quarter of this year, with a market share of 23.5 percent, according to the latest data from IDC, making it the No. 1 smartphone brand in India (the same share as Samsung). The previous quarter, Xiaomi’s share was 17 percent. India has become Xiaomi’s largest market outside of China.

Recently, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun also said in an interview that in the next five years, Xiaomi will invest $1 billion in 100 start-up companies in India to build an application ecosystem around its smartphone brand.
