Harley-Davidson’s first LiveWire(TM) electric motorcycle
In the development strategic plan of "More Roads to Harley-Davidson" announced on July 30th, the LiveWire electric motorcycle was confirmed for the first time. The development strategic plan will further help Harley to cultivate more next-generation knights around the world. Harley will use its core advantages in business, brand and dealer network to focus on more investment opportunities that can increase the number of knights and bring sustainable growth. As part of its development strategy, Harley-Davidson is excited about the future of electric motorcycles, and will continue to develop electric vehicle technology, aiming to become a global leader in the field of electric motorcycles, and expects to launch a complete electric motorcycle series by 2022.
The vision of launching LiveWire electric motorcycles began with the LiveWire project. As part of the plan, the prototype of the LiveWire electric motorcycle was publicly displayed as early as 2014, aiming to help the brand predict the potential of the future electric motorcycle market. With the help of this plan and subsequent intensive research and development, Harley-Davidson LiveWire electric motorcycle will provide riders with a brand-new high-performance motorcycle riding experience. Driven by the instantaneous torque of the all-electric engine, there is no need to clutch or shift gears, and amazing acceleration can be achieved only by twisting the throttle. The low center of gravity, solid aluminum frame and high-quality adjustable suspension components will also provide this model with the ability to dynamically handle road conditions. At the same time, the performance of LiveWire electric motorcycle has also been optimized for urban riding.
Pengpai power
The LiveWire electric motorcycle is powered by a permanent magnet electric engine, which produces instantaneous torque when the throttle is twisted, thus producing amazing acceleration performance. The electric engine is located at the lower part of the motorcycle to lower the center of gravity, which helps the motorcycle to operate well at all speeds and is also easy to control when parking. Moreover, in order to ensure driving safety, the new LiveWire electric motorcycle has specially designed a sound wave that can automatically adjust the volume and tone according to the driving speed, which will be a new sound wave representing smooth power.
Advanced frame
The newly designed frame provides flexible handling performance for the power transmission system, so that riders can experience perfect handling on urban streets and get more radical driving experience on curved roads. In addition, the frame also combines the power system as a stressed component into the aluminum frame to increase the overall rigidity. LiveWire electric motorcycle adopts high quality, high performance and adjustable Showa.?Suspension, including Showa BFRC-lite single impact rear suspension and Showa SFF-BP front suspension. The combination of front and rear specific suspensions and the superior performance of rear shock absorption provide low-speed damping control, so that riders can also get a better riding experience under urban riding conditions.
In order to improve the overall control performance, the LiveWire electric motorcycle is also equipped with Brembo Monoblock front brake calipers, which clamp the disc brake discs with a double diameter of 300mm, providing excellent power and crisp feeling and ensuring braking performance. The anti-lock braking system (ABS) and traction control system (TCS) are two standard vehicle configurations to enhance riding confidence, and Harley-Davidson/Michelin Scorcher tires (180mm rear wheel/120mm front wheel) are equipped. Knights can also customize the riding settings of LiveWire electric motorcycle through seven optional riding modes-four of which are factory standard settings, and the other three modes can be customized by knights.
Quanxin technology
The color touch screen TFT display (thin film transistor, a liquid crystal display with high image quality and contrast) located above the handlebar provides the knight with bright and easy-to-read screen display information. The display unit can adjust the angle, providing a perfect viewing angle for most knights. TFT screen also allows knight to access Bluetooth connection, navigation, music and other interfaces.
The LiveWire electric motorcycle adopts RESS (rechargeable power system/main battery), which is composed of lithium-ion batteries and surrounded by a cast aluminum fin shell. The model is also equipped with a small 12-volt lithium-ion battery, which supplies power for lights, controllers, speakers and instrument displays. Knight can use the standard household socket to charge the vehicle-mounted level 1 charger, and the power cord is stored under the motorcycle seat. The LiveWire electric motorcycle can also be charged by SAE J1772 connector (USA) or CCS2-IEC 2 connector (international market) in class 2, class 3 or DC fast charging (DCFC). All Harley-Davidson dealers selling LiveWire electric motorcycles will provide a public charging station.
Exquisite appearance
The style and performance of the LiveWire electric motorcycle are as amazing as the others, and it follows the styling characteristics of Harley-Davidson’s engine. Just as the V-type twin-cylinder engine is a striking element in all previous Harley-Davidson motorcycles, the electric engine is also a striking focus of LiveWire electric motorcycles-its bright case and mechanical muscle shape are designed to convey the power it contains. In addition, the cast aluminum shell will be designed with functional fins, and the body will be painted with advanced technology. The appearance will be treated with metal, and the overall streamline will be shaped like the tail of the wasp outline, and the rear fender will be close to the wheel.
In addition, Harley-Davidson also announced the annual championship of the 2018 "Reloading" Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Modification Competition at Milan International Motorcycle Exhibition-Harley-Davidson dealers from Bangkok, Thailand, with Street Bob.?The modified entry "Prince" won the championship. "Prince" by 2018 Harley Street Bob?The modified motorcycle expresses the contemporary knight’s better interpretation and tribute to the classic American cruise car.
The new Harley-Davidson LiveWire electric motorcycle will go on sale in 2019, and the related pricing and booking process will be released in January 2019.
