"Hello, I want to send an express mail. Can you come and pick it up?" Tu Yanfang, a courier brother, has to pick up dozens of such calls every day. When answering the phone, Tu Yanfang grips the mobile phone with his head and shoulders, and his right hand writes down the address on paper quickly. This series of actions is so coherent that people almost ignore that his left half sleeve is empty.
When Tu Yanfang was 14 years old, he lost his left arm. For 18 years, this one-armed courier has not collapsed. He works hard, marries and has children. Tu Yanfang delivers more couriers every day than able-bodied employees, and can deliver 400 couriers every day at peak hours. Among the couriers in Shenzhen, this "one-armed courier brother" is famous.

When Tu Yanfang was 10 years old, his mother died in a car accident, which was a great blow to him. As the eldest son of the family, he not only has to take care of his younger brother, but also does farm work while going to school. The death of my mother was almost a bolt from the blue for my father. Since then, my father has often used wine to drown his sorrows.
Won the disabled swimming champion.
It never rains but it pours. At the age of 14, Tu Yanfang and his younger brother were playing hide-and-seek in the yard, accidentally climbed onto the transformer, and were instantly stunned by electricity. After waking up, he saw that his left hand was all burnt and bloody, while his younger brother was crying. His first feeling was that his life was over.
"I was only 14 years old that year, and I just finished primary school. I’ve wanted to go to college since I was a child, taking a train, flying and going on a long trip. I was really desperate at the time. " In fact, it’s not just him who suffers. His depressed father finally wakes up from his confusion and takes care of him and cooks for him every day in the ward. "My father is in a state of guilt all day. I feel that he is careless and that he has harmed me." Tu Yanfang said.
One morning, Tu Yanfang passed by his father’s room. Through the crack of the door, he saw his father sitting on the bedside crying. In Tu Yanfang’s impression, his father was a strong man. No matter how difficult the days were, he never saw his father cry. Now his father is so sad for himself. He secretly made up his mind, "I must never let my father be sad again. I want to live like a normal person."
But it’s not easy to get out of the shadow of a broken arm. In three years, when he was walking at the entrance of the village, a child would cry when he saw Tu Yanfang’s empty left arm. Sometimes he stands at the door of his house and can’t take a step for half an hour for fear that others will talk about him. He doesn’t even dare to wear a short-sleeved shirt. Every time he sees the empty left sleeve, Tu Yanfang’s heart hurts like a knife.
Without an arm, it is difficult to keep the balance of the body. At first, Tu Yanfang would fall down if she walked a little faster. When carrying a heavy object, he needs to put it against the corner with his broken arm, and then move it to his shoulder with his other hand. At first, the wound of the residual arm was often ground to blood, and the sacks were stained with blood. After a long time, the wound formed a thick calluses. Years of physical labor have made Tu Yanfang’s right arm particularly strong and powerful, and he can pick up things weighing sixty or seventy pounds with one hand and carry them on his shoulders.
After two years of exploration, Tu Yanfang learned to cook, wash dishes, mop the floor, write and even swim with one hand. "I also won the swimming competition for the disabled in the province."
Parents die, send express delivery to make a living.
In the second day of junior high school, Tu Yanfang dropped out of school because she couldn’t afford the tuition in 300 yuan. He can only go home to help his father with farm work and odd jobs. In March 2010, Tu Yanfang came to Songgang, Shenzhen with a capital of 5,000 yuan. With only junior high school education and no left hand, he interviewed several units and was rejected.
He was suggested to be a beggar, but Tu Yanfang refused. So, he and his wife chose to set up a stall. They will set up stalls in five places a day, set up a morning market and sell clothes during the day. After 6 pm, they will go to Songgang to set up a night market and then set up a stall in gongming town. At 10: 30 pm, the couple will move to Fuyong Industrial Zone and work until after zero. When I got home from the night market, it was already a little after midnight. This makes them sleep only three or four hours a day. Although tired, Tu Yanfang and his wife can still earn 40,000 to 50,000 yuan after one year.
In July 2014, Tu Yanfang’s father was seriously ill and admitted to the hospital. It was only more than a month before and after, and his father died of illness. From the unexpected death of her mother to the loss of her left arm, and then to the death of her father, too many setbacks made Tu Yanfang physically and mentally exhausted.
In September 2014, under the introduction of fellow villagers, Tu Yanfang started as a courier. At first, when he went to apply for a job, the other party saw his empty left arm and immediately poured cold water on him. "How can I be a courier with only one hand? Can I do it?"
But Tu Yanfang firmly believed that he could do it. He carried the goods on his right shoulder with one hand and put the courier on the tricycle one by one. Seeing his sweat soaking all over his body and his skin peeling in the scorching sun, the leader of the courier company was moved.
Tu Yanfang was very excited when she first started as a courier. She always thought that if she sent more copies a day, she could earn more, but she didn’t get into trouble — — It took nearly 200 yuan to rear-end a van in the street, compensate 300 yuan, and repair his tricycle. But every time he comes home in trouble, his wife never blames him. What warms Tu Yanfang most is that his wife has never looked down on him because she has lost her left arm. Even in the lowest valley, the wife still never leaves.
At first, due to physical defects and inexperience in business, Tu Yanfang delivered only half the number of express deliveries per day, but spent three or four hours more than others, for which he was scolded a lot.
However, most senders are very considerate. When they see that he is missing an arm, they will not say anything even if the delivery is late, but give him a thumbs up. On a rainy day, the goods were scattered on the road, and the good-hearted passers-by saw it and came to help pick it up, which made him very moved. Over time, Tu Yanfang was well known in the area where he served. "This young man has ambition, and even if I walk a few more steps, I am willing to give him the express mail."
But Tu Yanfang doesn’t want to be sympathized. He just wants to earn more money through his own hands to support his family.
Express delivery is faster than normal people.
Tu Yanfang remembers that once, a customer bought a valuable item of several thousand yuan. When Tu Yanfang delivered it to the customer’s home, the customer said that he was on a business trip in other places and asked him to put it in the grocery store downstairs. But after more than a month, the customer called and said that the things had not been received. Tu Yanfang had to compensate the customer for the loss according to the company’s regulations, which is equivalent to his salary for one month. This incident touched Tu Yanfang very much. Since then, Tu Yanfang has to find out the whereabouts of every express delivery. "The customer is not here, even if it is delivered the next day."
Tu Yanfang loves to use his head, and now he has developed a unique set of actions to send and receive express delivery. Sometimes he chewed the transparent glue with his mouth, and sometimes he held down the express bill with his foot. Without one hand, Tu Yanfang was still quick. The young man who sent the letter was surprised to see that his handwriting was still neat with one hand. Tu Yanfang smiled. "I haven’t practiced it specially, but I often write and get used to it."
After doing heavy work for a long time, Tu Yanfang has worn many calluses on his hands and his right arm is often sore. Tu Yanfang laughed at this. "Men are the pillars of the family, so it is appropriate to work hard."
Every year after the "Double Eleven" is his busiest time. During that time, he sent three or four hundred pieces of express delivery almost every day. If one person was too busy, he asked his wife to help him send them together. At the highest salary, there was 20 thousand yuan. "From 8: 00 am to 12: 00 pm, I didn’t have time to go back to the shower and fell asleep."
Tu Yanfang said that it is hard money to send express delivery, that is, who is diligent. When the "Double Eleven" has not yet emerged, even in the New Year, the express delivery volume can’t be doubled on weekdays. But last year’s "Double Eleven", it took him a week just to pack the goods. Due to the gradual proficiency in business, in recent years, Tu Yanfang has maintained the record of "zero bad reviews and zero complaints".
Deliver courier during the day and set up a stall at night.
When he first lost his left arm, Tu Yanfang was worried that he might be single in this life, but it turned out that his worry was unnecessary.
On October 13, 2015, Tu Yanfang’s child was born. Because he had been running outside all day, he didn’t take his wife for a checkup as required, and the child was born prematurely, weighing more than 9 kg at birth, which was a huge child. He has respiratory distress, shadows in his lungs, incomplete development, and a bigger heart than normal children. At that time, Tu Yanfang prepared 30,000 yuan to welcome the birth of the child. I thought it was enough, but later, they spent more than 50,000 yuan.
Tu Yanfang said that the person who sent the courier was diligent. Many times he didn’t even have time to eat breakfast and lunch. Sometimes he didn’t remember that he hadn’t eaten the steamed buns he bought in the morning until he was free in the afternoon.
Tu Yanfang’s wife takes care of the children at home during the day, and continues to push the children out with a cart at night.
Tu Yanfang was a little tired when she was "working overtime" at night because she sent a courier outside during the day. Sometimes, when the child is crying, he will come forward to hug the child. Knowing that his father has only one hand, this clever baby will subconsciously hold his father’s neck tightly. Watching the children grow up day by day, Tu Yanfang felt that her life was on the right track day by day.
Now, Tu Yanfang wants to go to Shenzhen by his own hands through serious struggle. He heard that disabled people can be reimbursed for medical treatment after they have social security, and there is a monthly subsidy of nearly 1,000 yuan. He hopes that his future life will be more secure.
